Very nice, but now can we focus on making a canned DSP-NR mode with value steps (like all other radios have) so we can get a usable & effective SSB DSP-NR?

A BIG thanks to Darrin for the non-stop work and enhancements to the program. He breaths life into something that should not be considered mature or EOL (at least in my eyes). Thanks to Flex allowing committed developers access to the source code.

Agree 110%. I almost feel like getting a Flex-5000. I feel that this work will make the rigs that rely on it appreciate.

I can't find the option to display my own callsign at the top of PowerSDR, where the serial number is.  Is this capability removed ?

Its still there setup->general->options->custom title text.

its just that the Beta signature pushes it over to the right a bit.

By the way, i was able to make Powersdr crash while messing with the DXcluster addresses. Actually, it crashed a second time without messing with the addresses.  The second occasion seemed related to me closing the connection to the default cluster and then attempting a quick re-connect

The DX Spotter feature is very new, and still beta while I figure out how the DX spider actually works. Where Flex spends a lot a time Bullet Proofing their features, I do it as things pop up. RevR2 at least appears to have fixed the crashing due to incorrectly formatted spot data. I need to Bullet Proof the open/closing socket stuff.

Yes, it was the socket closing that seemed to get confused.  A great feature though.  Do the spots in PowerSDR  decay after a specified time or are they displayed until the spotter is closed and reopened ?
Again, many thanks for this great new feature.

The newest spots push older spots off the list so the display is constantly updating. It also checks for dups now. The spot list is currently set to 60 spots
I could add a timer as well

Thanks for Spots in Panadapter. Makes me wish I kept my 5000

Now if only Flex would push this valuable and highly desired feature higher on its SSDR to do list.

The auto settings in the waterfall is a great feature as well, after running my 5k again I got use to all the cool added features and when I went back to 6700 I really missed them.
Glad I didn't sell the 5k

Thanks Darrin great work.

Always willing to listen. I try for features I can do quickly. I want to work on a Freq Scanner next, but just not sure how I want it to work?  But many suggestions have been from all of you (like adding the SWL bands, and the ability to add to any bands "band stack" )

Darrin, Great Features.

Thanks for your efforts from all of us, and like others, I'm glad I have kept the 5000A.  Can you program ways to move the existing menus around, so that we can see more meters you created?  And is there a Donation Pot !!

Cheers

Morning Darrin

Just another thought, and maybe this has been suggested elsewhere.  All of the common panels at the bottom, with Rx/2Tx2 panels on the left, with the Rx1/Tx1 panels on the Right (or Visa-Versa).  This would give way to a bigger window area for when the 4 windows displays are used.

Just loaded Version 8.

Keep up the great work OM.

At some point I may try a new screen layout. I will have a toggle switch, to go between the old and new layout, that way nobody can complain if my new layout isn't their style.

Thanks Darrin, Great piece of work. Just installed it. One point, the tx text is squashed on the w/f display making it unreadable. Is this okay on the rx side.?
This is worth a donation folks.

The waterfall ID all depends on the speed of the waterfall on the receiving end.

As well as the Low and High level settings and the resolution, etc. etc.

The Flex has better resolution on the waterfall at lower Sample Rates, so it will show up better.

Also you can hit the Auto Water Level when your transmitting to adjust the waterfall Low TX level.

Also, the Wave-> TX gain will set the gain of the WaterFall ID output.

(Lots of moving parts)

The DX cluster is now easier to log into

The SWL database has over 12,000 spots

Darrin,  when you are bored and have nothing to do in life, any chance you can pay attention to the CWX functions in PowerSDR?  I really like the usefulness of CWX but can't help but think it can have a few extra bells and whistles.

We are not shamed at all.  We have been supporting and encouraging Darrin from the beginning of his efforts and have provided radios to him so that he can develop and test.  I think that those who benefit from Darrin's work should compensate him accordingly.

Sounds like an effective hand-off, allowing FRS to focus more energy on the latest projects, which are much more complex.

I almost regret selling my 1500. It would be fun to play with some of these new features.

I agree, I think that is supposed to happen.  If you tune the radio, there might not be any w/f historic data on the new freq and it shows blank.

Yes the waterfall "history" moves with the Panadapter now. I purposely black out the off screen areas of the display so you always see real history as you move back/forth across the band. The only time the "history" will not match up is when you change the Zoom.

How difficult would it be to add some radio buttons on the main page with free form labels to easily change antennas?

A quick way to achieve this would be to turn the RX TX Antenna text (just below the Squelch) into clickable buttons that can cycle through the available choices.

Darrin, could we have an option to include USA spots with the outside USA selection button. When one works USA stations along with the rest of the world, it would be nice to see who is spotting us.

I am not sure I understand: The "Spotter" is already in the text window, so you want and option to see the "Spotter" on the panadapter along with the "Spotted" ?

One of the major reason I am so happy that you have included Spots is that IF and WHEN Flex ever gets around to including Spots in SSDR, they will be able to build upon your experience with Spots

Think of the endless possibilities... Hyperlink on the call sign in the panadapter to open up QRZ,  or directly put their name or country under their call sign, or use signal processing to identify the mode of transmission (and display it next to the call sign) by looking at the waterfall data, etc. etc etc.
Anyway, I am now putting the Grid Square under the call sign for 6M, 144m, 70cm. And the DX spots can also appear in RX2 now.

Good idea, but only works if one is a QRZ.COM member does'nt it ? A lot of people are not members of them, but elsewhere.
How about getting a button on the panel to bring up a grid square map, country by country, perhaps hooking into something like this or similar

Darrin, re the scanner operation, how about making it selectable to scan for weak signals or strong signals, with the levels to be selected. This way the scanner wont get hooked up on strong signals such as we have in Europe.

Hi Darrin, Is it possible for you to add some block tnf's to the tnf selection menu. I ask this because many times, when qrm comes up on a qso, its a bit fiddly to add one filter at a time, adjust the width and depth of them, then move them around. If possible could you add another button(s) to add say 5 blocks at once or even 10 blocks. The width and depth of the entire block can then be adjusted as normal.
Looking at your latest video clip on the R12.
Good stuff.

Yes some I'm sure miss the old PSDR, it took several years to get this far. Many forget the need for moving to SSDR. The possibilities for PSDR has pretty much run it's coarse but SSDR is taking things to a much higher level.

John, I was thinking of making the "Play" button key the transmitter (like the TX WaterID button) this way I can assign a keyboard key to mox the radio and play your recording in one motion. I already have the ability to keep and assign a recording to play using the quick audio buttons, so it shouldn't be a problem.

That would work or you could add another button to the record group and name it "vice ID'er" or something like that.

PowerSDR Rev S1:

Added a Rec/Play ID checkbox, to help streamline the use of the Rec/Play buttons for contest calling. When enabled, the "REC" button is strictly for recording your voice (keys radio with 0 drive), and "PLAY" button keys the radio automatically. If you enable the Wave->"quick audio play folder", you can keep a file in that folder to use instead of the last recording.

Add DX Spot parser: My attempt at parsing the freq and comments section, to allow automatic mode selection and split when you click on the DX spot in the Dx spot window. It will change between ssb, cw, and dig modes (both USB and LSB) based on information it can detect. It also tries to detect the Split and set the radio accordingly.

Ah great work Darrin, its works well. Can one adjust it as some people have squeaky voices and need more gain and others deep bass ? Is it linked to the mixer control ? One comment, the button needs to be a bit bolder/bigger including  the text.
