Improve NR (noise reduction) -- request to add another "DSP enhancements" item for NR to the road m
Per Geralds suggestion below here is an idea for NR. It was part of the "DSP enhancements" in V1.1 release in January 2014. Since that time there have been several comments and questions about its performance from both customers and FRS staff. Here are a few of the related links:

IDEA - please take another look and enhance the NR DSP function further. I can only comment on CW but it seems to reduce the signal as well as the noise. Often the CW signal I am trying to copy fades to the point I can't use the NR. Ideally it should reduce the noise without significantly affecting the CW signal although some distortion/coloring would be acceptable.
Others that have feedback on SSB or other modes, please add your comments.
If this idea gets enough votes, then hopefully it will make it to the road map again....

Before I got my 1500 and then the 6500 I used the NR function on my Kenwood TS-590 all the time. It really helped clear out the hash on working weak SSB DX signals. I sure would like to see it working on my 6500. The label, box or whatever you call them is already there. But now it doesn't do anything.
