6400M, problems with update to V.4.2.20

Options
Running Win11 and Smart SDR v.4.2.20, tried to update my radio to newst version. But along the way something went wrong I guess... Frontpanel is still on 4.1.5.39794 and HW version as well.
When running the update everythings seems okay, purple colour on button etc. etc. but nothing is happening when starting up.
Every time when running Smart SDR v.4.2.20 it's saying to 'down grade' to older version.
Followed the instructions when upgrading to latest version (removed programs etc)
Anyone with same issues and how to solve this?

    Try this:

    • Update the radio to 4.2.20 from SmartSDR on the PC
    • If it hangs, after about 20 minutes, reboot the radio by removing DC power
    • Restart the radio and connection from the PC using SmartSDR 4.2.20 - it is a different shortcut so you need to look at the name carefully
    • Next, update the Front panel by selecting 4.2.20 to match the radio.

If you are getting the DownGrade message, that only comes from starting a previous version of SmartSDR.

    Hi Mike,
    thanks for your quick reply!
Have tried a lot last couple of days... Uninstalled all SmartSDR, removed all files etc. But not able to update my 6400M to 4.2.20
Won't bother you with pictures of the 6400M screen, but when starting up everything seems okay. (both with SmartSDR running on Win11 or stand alone)

But info = Radio firmware 4.2.20.41343
Operate: still v.4.1.15 when pressing update I got "want to downgrade your radio? v4.2.20 Strange message, should be upgrade. If I choose YES or NO makes any difference.
When pressing 'YES' same procedure as before: purple button and so on.
Both Front Panel and Radio HW are still on 4.1.15

So for some reason the HW and Frontpanel won't upgrade to he new version.
Any suggestions? Maybe a complete reset of the radio or what to do next...

Note: lefthand corner "Connect to Ethernet, Internet unavailable" message, but is a bug?

Stephan, I don't want to interject because Mike knows much more than I do. But "Internet unavailable" is not a bug. I'd suspect that it really isn't available and that is the reason for the failure to update. Maybe investigate implementing another connection from Radio to Router: different ethernet cable, Switch or whatever you have.

Also, not saying this is anything to do with your situation, but after upgrading SSDR do ensure that any shortcut to a previous version is deleted and that when starting SSDR it really is 4.2.20.

Hi Erik, thanks for your comment! It was the following issue: I use to have static IP addresses for my "known" equipement in the network. But after changing to DHCP ... it was easy to run the update!
Haven't had problems with this before.
I saw in a old post a comment that the internet unavailable was a bug. Now I see in another post that the radio must be on DHCP. (https://community.flexradio.com/discussion/8025541/can-t-connect-when-internet-is-down-help)
Most important is that everything works again as it should be. Anyways thanks for the input!

Maybe that is a bug still, but could it not be better to use a DHCP reservation?
