Mike, thanks for the informative answer.

    But a question arises.

The FTDI chip installed in the ERC 4 is essentially a USB-to-COM cable. Control is handled via the COM port using the GS-232 protocol.

A friend of mine ordered a device from China that interfaces a pan/tilt head with a computer via the COM port, and when connected to the FLEX via a USB-to-COM adapter (to FTDI), everything worked perfectly. (https://aliexpress.ru/item/1005011652379398.html?spm=a2g2w.detail.rcmdprod.5.22324255sBrrwP&mixer_rcmd_bucket_id=testRankingRtControl&pdp_trigger_item_id=0_1005011545353512&ru_algo_pv_id=fddfe0-61b690-a58bcb-e0d280-1774699200&scenario=aerSimilarItemPdpRcmd&shpMethod=CAINIAO_STANDARD&sku_id=12000056157714253&traffic_source=recommendation&type_rcmd=core)

Continuing the topic, response from the ERC author:

"yes, the FTDI-chip in our interfaces provides a Virtual Com-Port (VCP) on the operating-systems Windows, MacOS and Linux. The programs running on these computers can access them by the COM-port enumerated to the specific device.

As fare as we know, the FTDI chip we use (FT230X) is not compatible to the FTDI-RS232 cable FLEX refer to in their documentation for the USB passthrough-function. They have limited (or tested) this function only with the usage of the 2 specific cables mentioned in their documentation."

The question is - what prevents you from adding a driver for the FT230X - after all, this is also a bridge between USB and COM.
