Straight key with pc running SSDR remotely

I am wondering if it is possible somehow to use a straight key with a pc running SSDR at a remote location from my 6600. I know that I could use the CWX feature, but it would be nice to use my straight key or bug.
As I think about it, I should be able to use a USB adapter of some kind to connect the key to the PC. However, I don't see anything in SSDR that would allow me to use the input for CW. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
John

Hi John... as far as I know, this isn't possible through a remote SSDR connection. There's no mechanism I'm aware of to access the 'key' port from the PC -- except, as you mentioned via CWX.

Hi John
Unfortunately you will have to use a Maestro with the key plugged into the Maestro.

Here is a starting point. A separate software internet circuit activates the key on the Flex Radio.
Have not tried this, however, there may be other implementations as well.

Hi John, without commenting if this is possible or not (look at my post about using a paddle), to allow the radio to transmit with a straight key just disable the internal automatic keyer and use the RTTY rear connector. (SmartSDR software guide, Para 24.5)1

I think that you can use a Winkey in remote mode: http://k1el.tripod.com/WKremoteX.html
Not SmartSDR tho!

Different topic, but related to use the winkeyer.
