Nothing is wrong, you cannot change the firmware in the radio remotely by using Smartlink. Its not a great idea anyway as if something happens (like you lose power halfway thru the update) how will you recover the radio? Its always been this way so nothing has changed in this regards.

Both the Radio and the computer are on the same local network. For some reason we can not get smartsdr to run locally.  Flex on 192.168.0.250 and computer on 192.168.0.34.  Any sugestions??

If you have rebooted everything, than make sure you firewall is off and if you are on wifi trying going hardwired just test.

Make sure you don't have "port Isolation" (what ever your Router may call it) turned on which won't let the Radio and your Computer see each other on the local network.
Another thing to try is have them both plugged into a separate Ethernet Switch, then the Switch to the Router.

    good luck

Can you ping thr radio from the PC? Also check your router subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 Did you try to set the Flex to a static IP at one point? Why would you load 1.9? That is old. Dave wo2x

Also you do not need to use Smartlink if both the Radio and PC are on the same local Network.

Simply do not select Smart Link during startup, just press connect.

We do not have options other than SmartLink... SmartSDR will no come up.  It always goes to SmartLink as soon as the SDR program starts.

I would suggest to uninstall Smart SDR and re-install. Something is corrupted...

Before the SSDR screen opens you should see a screen that allows you sign in. It will say Smart link at the top and connect in green at the bottomimageimage

you need to be on the same lan network to update,,do not use Smartlink
so either connect your radio directly to you radio or connect them together with your router.

These are the only screens we get...  Notice only "RO" option.  We removed all of SDR completely including VSP, rebooted and did a clean install.  The Flex was also reset to factory defaults.

    What Next...???

When SDR tries to run it calls for the updates to the radio.  Can not be done remotely... We need to get in with Body Icon not the "RO" icon.  We do not have this option.

Sign out of Smartlink .  restart the PC, Make sure you have the latest firmware you want downloaded on the PC, start SSDR and select the radio from the chooser (or just double click on it) and connect.  click upgrade when it comes up and let it complete.

We need some more info on exactly how you have your radio and PC connected, including connection to the router. Sounds like somehow you have multiple subnets there. Please give a description on how it is connected.

Radio direct to PC, router, or switch? PC have Ethernet and WiFi?

Dave.... I think he needs to sign out of Smartlink before he tries anything else also.  The latest photos show him still using smartlink to try and connect/update the radio.

Ronnie...  To log out of Smartlink:
Click on the "RO" above the radio and you will get a new window to either save your login information or to logout of Smartlink.   Then you can just use the SSDR Icon to get in and out of your radio on the local Lan.    No "Smartlink" connection required.

    Hi Ronnie

There is something wrong on your network and SSDR is using SmartLink and not the local connection like it should.

As others have said, I would log out of SmartLink first and then let's see what happens.

How are the actual radio and computer connected to your network?  Wifi, Cable?  If cabled what are the LAN cables plugged into?

    Mike

Ronnie uses Spectrum (TWC) for his internet provider. The Spectrum modem has be put in full Bridge Mode by Spectrum with wireless disabled. Only port one (1) is used on the modem and it is sent to the input of the router.  The routers/switch has only one cable connected to a new 10,100,1000 switch.  All devices are using new CAT6 patch cables from one end to the other.

He is using an ASUS-RTAC66UB1 router to control his local area network.  The DHCP is set to assign addresses from only 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200 along with the correct subnet of 255.255.255.0 The router IP is 192.168.0.1 and all subnets are set to 255.255.255.0.

His PC has been put on a static address of 192.168.0.240.  The Flex is set static to 192.168.0.250.

All the requires ports are forwarded to the PC including those for the Flex and also EchoLink. Doing a scan of the network shows all device on the proper addresses. All computers and wireless devices function correctly thru the router.

Important:  The PC will not connect or even see the Flex while trying both a  new Cat6 cable or a Cat6 crossover cable connected directly between the two devices.

WIFI is turned of on the computers.

The SDR software only offers us SmartLink.  SmartSDR for local networking is never offered as a choice.  Please see our network setup below.
    Thanks,
