New Aruora Purchase

For remote power control on the high-end look up Digital Loggers. They have a Web controlled outlet device that works great. I have 6 of them here in the house.

One thing I've learned about remote is KISS. Keep it as simple as you can. Less to fail. Less to cause you to drive to the remote site. And be redundant when you can.

From my perspective, I'd leave all the power monitoring in the Aurora. I donno if you have a beam but that might need a controller you can fiddle with remote.

But you need the ability to power cycle things and the digital loggers devices have nice scripting and automatic cycling. They can even cycle plugs automatically if a ping to remote address fails.

To my knowledge this is not much on remote antenna disconnect. I had to build my own here at my home. The fact of the matter is this: Direct lightning strike, there is nothing that is gonna save your antenna and maybe your gear. A near by strike, having a disconnect might save you but obviously it has to be disconnected at the time of the strike.

During the summer I probably connect and disconnect my system here at home twice a day when storms roll through.

The iOS version of SmartSDR is available on the Apple App store. That being said, I am not sure you will find working remote over a phone to be rewarding. The interface is just kind of small. An iPad is a little better. I use a MacBookPro and it works great. Small enough to tote about, powerful and big enough to be useful.

The speakers and mic on the MacBookPro are good enough to use remote. If you want a headset and mic you can go with a USB based Bose or Jabra headset. For these your PTT is on the iPad or computer.

I don't have a Maestro so that will probably change your Mic requirements. But I have oped voice with just my MacBookPro and a Jabra headset without any issue and had good reports.

The mac, i-pad, i-phone apps are available in the Apple store for purchase. One purchase covers all the devices using the same Apple account.
