Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to read me. Do you have any idea of the minimum output power of the Aurora 520-M? Also, is there an OM who uses an amplifier with the 520-M?

Best regards

Andy

    I believe it’s about 2 watts.

At 1% the output is right at 5 watts. Flex Radio doesn't suggest driving an amplifier with the Aurora as the potential for damage to the amplifier, and possibly the radio, from overdriving the amplifier can happen if not carefully monitored. Better to be safe than sorry. If you have to run an amplifier get a 8000 radio instead of the Aurora.

We highly, highly, recommend that you do not use Aurora to drive an external amplifier. The reason being is it will be 'when' you accidentally ht your amp with 500 watts and **** up the amp input stage and possible cause damage to the Aurora. All of which is not covered under warranty.

Besides, the difference between 500 watts and 1000 or even 1500 is not really enough to make a difference. I know, ever little bit helps it seems, but the ionosphere changes so rapidly that it is the bigger challenge.

I took my PGXL out of service when I put the Aurora in, and I haven't noticed a difference. Good luck! 73
