Problems with AG firmware 4.1.8

I upgraded the AG firmware to 4.1.8 and immediately had problems. I renamed Antenna 1 and 2 to my dipoles, and both buttons disappeared so I reinstalled the firmware. Now I get a blank box labeled 403A Signature Antenna Gemius Utility with 2 tabs named "local devices" and "Remote Devices," both of which are blank. I have repeated the process of downloading the new firmware and loading it, and I get the same results. One time it worked, and I renamed the antennas, but the same thing happened, and I am back to the blank box. I read others' comments about similar problems, but nothing I do seems to permanently fix it. Any ideas are appreciated. Ed K5YZW

    Hi Ed, I am on 4.1.16 (the latest as of 4/16/26) and am having no problems with my Antenna Genius. I can name and re-name the antennas without issue. You might want to consider upgrading to 4.1.16.

    Does anyone know the changes from 4.1.8 to 4.1.16? It does not show a change log in the current manual on the 4O3A website and I can't seem to find it. I have found that blindly updating in the past has often resulted in new problems with no useful improvements but it is difficult to make that decision with no information on what has changed.

    I believe there was a change that affected s small amount of users with the OM module attached.

    I have been using 4.1.16 since release with zero issues. I did have one support case where something in the program install folder was corrupted and the fix was to uninstall the AG utility, manually delete the folder under Program Files, then reinstall the program. All other support cases I have handled were configuration errors.

    Dave, thanks for the specifics. I have been very reluctant to upgrade any Flex/4O3A Genius equipment without real user feedback. I have found over the years that 4O3A does a poor job of responding to their support tickets. I submitted one a while ago and did not receive a single response to it. Looking at the forum posting on the 4O3A website shows few if any, updated postings to help self-troubleshoot. This lack of good support has resulted in many hours of personal troubleshooting over the years of owning Flex/4O3A Genius products, leaving a poor taste in my mouth. Although, I understand that Flex does not have control of 4O3A except to make a choice of them as a supplier it certainly does not reflect well on the Flex eco-system and otherwise exceptional support provided by Flex directly. Hopefully, you can be the conduit to pass this one customers opinion onto those in Flex that might wish to blend it with all the other feedback they receive.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
