edited December 7 in Aurora

Just keeping the pott ( dang old site filters )stired so it doesn't boil over. It is now the second week in December. I am hoping for some new information for actual release and shipping of the new Aurora radios. I feel like Santa needs some lead time in order to have everything ready for the big day!

Wow,no responses. I might have to make up something to get the ball rolling.

How about sometime between now and then? Kinda like a definite maybe! Personally, I think it's possible by Christmas so Santa can deliver the new radios.

Patience is NOT one of my virtues. I hate waiting. However, I knew when I signed up for the Aurora, it would be a case of you get it when you get it.

    I commiserate with you.

No rumours. That is why they call them rumours.

Haven't received a Flex Insider for this month. Any idea when, or if, another one will be sent out? I have been receiving it and the special email for Aurora buyers. Just nothing new this month.

Mike provided a link above that will take you to the insider. Didn't see any new information pertaining to the Aurora.

As I said, I haven't seen a new Insider for this month yet. There hasn't been one sent out ( so far) for this month and not one posted on the Flex Radio website.

So, waiting for another Aurora email or Insider update. Or, better yet, notice of shipping!

Mike, If you want to, go ahead and delete this thread. My intention was to get a conversation going with Aurora buyers who, like me, are waiting for the arrival of the new Aurora radios. I thought it might be a humorous way to pass the time till the radios actually started shipping. I am very aware of the Insider and receive it if and when, it is sent out. I also receive the special email from CTO Steve Hicks that he has been sending to Aurora buyers. So far, neither one have shown up yet. So, to give other Aurora buyers and myself something to pass the time and discuss the new radios, I started this thread. Apparently, no other Aurora buyers are interested in playing along. So, this thread serves no purpose.

No worries James, I thought you may had overlooked the link. I am waiting like you any many others for the news that the Aurora is on the way. I'm hoping to stay off the naughty list, and that one will be arriving soon. I am a little concerned that this is an extremely busy time for UPS, and hope the shipping process goes without any concerns.

    All the best.

Same here Mike. I have a feeling that we will hear more before too much longer. I get a little ( sometimes more than a little) anxious at times waiting for news about something like the Aurora and when we might be able to actually have one. I do have a 5000A that can do a lot of things. But, it isn't what an Aurora will be with SmartSDR Plus.

In spite of it all, I am sure I will survive!!

Well, this is why I waited until shipping from stock before I bought the 6400. Timelines never get shorter.

I have a feeling that shipping from stock will be a while in coming for the Aurora radios.

Since I seem to be about the only one interested in playing along, I now think that shipping the new radios is not going to happen for quite some time. Maybe, another critical component needs to be replaced with something else because of supply issues or maybe it's being held up by Customs awaiting tariffs payment. It is probably the feet on the radio that is holding everything up. I would suggest going by Home Depot if their regular supplier is having problems. It's that, or the pesky problem with the silk screening.

Anyway Christmas is coming. Either this year or next year.

I have a few extra feet from different projects that, for one reason or another, never quite got off the ground. So, it that's what is holding things up, I can use them to fill in till they send out the new ones. Or, I have a couple of 2X4's that I can set the radio on!!

I’ve been without a radio since June. Maybe I’ll purchase a “pre-loved” 6400 to get me going again while I wait. I guess I’ll wait for the next update to make that decision (if it looks like its not going to be this month).

I have been tempted to do the same thing. But, I figure about the time I get the pre-loved radio all setup and going, the Aurora would be shipped. If the right deal on a used radio came along, I might take the jump anyway. Just to get used to using SmartSDR again. I do have other radios to tide me over. But, getting a new radio with new capabilities and features, is something that I enjoy doing. I like making comparisons between different brands with similar features. It can be pretty revealing at times.

Maybe, we won't have to wait much longer. Christmas isn't that far away. It would be really nice to have an early Christmas present from Flex Radio.

A little bird tells me that it might well be a repeat of the 6600M when I bought one the Monday after they were announced at Dayton in 2017. Supposedly to deliver in September 2017. Didn't get the 6600M until the end of February 2018. ( was paid in full by August 2017)

    Lather, rinse, repeat. SOS DD.

Of course I would like to get my Aurora that I have paid for in full sooner than later, but I understand bringing such a product into existence is a difficult undertaking, and all sorts of things can happen, to make it take longer than was expected and hoped for. If it takes longer to make it as perfect as possible I am OK with that. But I cannot understand why Flex doesn't just let us know the situation, being this close to the end of the 4th Quarter and Christmas.

First, let me apologize for my last post. It was made with more than a little bit of frustration from the continued wait and slow communication from Flex Radio. I know that they are extremely busy and getting an update out may not be high on their priority list. But, good communication is important to not only me, but, I am sure, to others as well. For myself, the AU-520M was a lot of money to pay in full in hopes of getting a first class radio that no other company offers. I have had many years of experience with Flex Radio and I should have known ahead of time that they rarely deliver new products in the time frame they have mentioned. There has been exactly one instance of them having a new product ready to ship when they announced it at Dayton Hamvention. That was the Flex 6300. Since then, everything else has been a waiting game. And any dates or time frames, have not panned out. And were much later than announced. ( the Flex M model radios announcement) So, the wait continues. Maybe by the end of the year some of us could have their new radios in hand. But, I for one, am not counting on getting my new radio before sometime early ( hopefully) next year.

I just hope I have it soon enough to set it up and test it before I leave it for the Summer so I can actually use it remotely.

I hope you have it long before that!
