Any new Aurora news/rumors?

Things are picking up! Another new Aurora has been spotted in the wild and reported in the Community. SIX Aurora radios are out there now!!!

And another Aurora makes an appearance! Seven Aurora radios! And one is an M model radio. I imagine like the previous generation of Flex radios, the radios are built in batches for each model and type ( M model or plain face) . So, the photo shown on the Flex Radio Facebook page of a rack of Aurora radios being burned in ( I counted 8, all Non-M model) late in December before Christmas when production and shipping was announced is a reasonable indication of how many radios are actually being manufactured, tested and shipped. That should mean my order for a AU-520M might show up sometime in a month or so. ( I ordered May 22nd of last year) This pretty well corresponds with how it went with the 6600M when they were announced and I ordered the Monday after Hamvention in Dayton in 2017. And received the radio in February 2018. Lather, rinse, repeat! Nine months between ordering and paying for, a new Flex radio and actually getting it.

Before anyone says anything, I know that I will get the new radio. I had hoped that after nearly 9 years that production and shipping might have been streamlined by now. But, being a new type of transmitter may have changed that. So, I will continue to wait and look forward to getting the new Aurora AU-520M.

Well, the excitement is building at WD5GWY's qth. Paid the Sales Tax after receiving the invoice this morning for my AU-520M. Now, the wait for shipping to take place. The best part is, even using Ground shipping, from Austin to Fort Worth is only one day! I have watched tracking before and have seen a package from Austin arrived in Fort Worth the same day with Ground shipping. But, delivery didn't happen until the next day. So, the count is going up quite a bit. I have read several posts on the Facebook page from people getting invoiced and shipping notices. Aurora is getting out there!!!!

I am going to wait until Hamvention so I can talk with the lady engineer there at Xenia at the Flex booth, I have some serious questions on delivery, I do not want to be left holding the bag with my money tied up for a long time.

You can always wait until the Aurora radios are in stock and available for purchase and immediate shipping. Although it might be a while before that happens, you won't have to wait as long as many of us who prepaid for the new radios after the announcement.
