ADP and it's connections
I have ordered a new 8-foot-long BNC-BNC from ABR for SmartSignal from PGXL to the Flex 8600.
The question I have, which RX ports is the best connections RX 1 to the PGXL ?
My setup is 8600 to PGXL to TGXL to AGXL with 5 antennas hooked to AGXL

At this time, SmartSignal will not monitor the RF from the PGXL. That is in a future version.
However, when we do release it, you will be able to use the RX or XVT ports and specify which one.

APD does work on Flex 8000 series radios. What it does not do (yet) is take the output from an external amplifier and feed a small sample back to the radio.

Mike out of curiosity, have you had the opportunity to do preliminary testing on this feature at your qth and or remote or is it still in development ?

so to be clear it currently doesn’t work?

SmartSignal, today, only works on the 100 watts (or less) generated in the radio.
In case you missed the FAQ for APD, you can find it here:

Ok thanks Mike. I am confident that will be resolved as well.

I had to upgrade the TGXL for integration.
WAITING ON 4O3A to update the PGXL software?

Any progress with using APD with 8000 series and PG XL?
Is SSDR v4.0.1 ready to use with APD?

Hi Tom, APD is working with 4.0.1. I just keep it always on with my 8600, whether I am using my KPA 500 amp or running barefoot. Even though the amp does not feed back the signal, the linearized output of the 100 Watts helps.

Does anybody, anywhere have actual on-air results for two-tone, 3rd-order IMD? Is it < -60dBc? Preferably < -65dBc?
This is what I was after with my 6400, in conjunction with my amp (tube based, already at -43dBc), but that promise evaporated … I'm not buying into the 8000-family until I am assured that APD is working with amplifiers, and working very well in real-world (1.5kW speech) conditions. Fool me once…

As Len said the APD works well so far with the Radio itself, but I don't believe the V4.0.1 APD is as of yet using any ports connecting to an external TAP for an AMP, I don't think it is even tied into the PGXL yet over Ethernet but that will I believe come soon. the Radios TX (Exciter) being much much cleaner is really a huge step in the whole APD scheme of things and works well so far and has to improve any AMP's 3rd-order IMD, and will get much better when the V4 has a few versions behind it and provides for external input.
I know from working with Digital over the air TV, that even if you have a super clean exciter that it only takes one mis-tuned RF Amp stage to trash your IMD.
