SmartSDR v3.10.15 revalidated

The license goes with the radio, so there is nothing you need to do.
The radio will require internet access to validate a new version but if you do not have internet access you can safely continue to run the version that is installed on the radio.

i read this
Important Notice: Beginning with SmartSDR v3.10.10, the SmartSDR hardware license installed on your radio must be
revalidated by connecting to the SmartSDR License Server. To complete this process, ensure that your radio is connected
to a network with Internet access. Once your SmartSDR license has been successfully validated, the radio will not need to
reconnect to the License Server unless you purchase a new SmartSDR+ feature license.serial 4918 0075 6400 3012
Now I'm wondering if the new features I downloaded in version 4 aren't active. Is that right?

In V4 Basic, NR and ANF have been "improved with an updated algorithm". So those are 'active' but nothing else is right now without a SmartSDR+ license. For example, the DVK that you opened will never work without paying for it.
Before this subscription upheaval, moving from V3 to V4 would have cost $200 anyway. So if any of the new features are important to you, it makes sense to go to SmartSDR+. At the offer price, it is actually less expensive (until end of November).
Note that Enhanced Signal Clarity only works on 2 SCU radios and Noise Floor Scaling has been available anyway for years in SDC software (along with auto AGC-T which is not being provided in SSDR+ at all).
My advice, for what it is worth, is to acquire SmartSDR+ while the offer is available. You do not have to continue paying after the year has ended and you will keep all new features introduced up to then.

Thanks for the reply, now everything is clear to me. Without getting too argumentative, I'm asking the Flex Chief, but does all this make sense to charge someone who spends a lot of money for software that rarely receives functions and requires satellite programs? Couldn't it decrease sales? Today there is an SDR called Brick2. Soon it will have two ADCs that works with Thethis software, which has everything and is amazing at the very low cost of 1000 bucks. It's just a commercial curiosity, nothing controversial.

6400 running 3.9.19 try to upgrade to 3.10.10 and the popup says I need to buy a license.
I read the part about the license server connection being needed.
However, I do not have any internet connection for the 6400. It is direct ethernet to ethernet card in desktop.
solutions?
So, no 3.10.19 and no 4.01 possible. Frustrated - ya betcha. N5LB MN

Hi Lionel, can you temporarily connect your Flex to a router or switch that has Internet access? Once the validation is done, you can go back to your link-local connection. Also, you don't need to upgrade to 3.10.15 before moving to 4.0.1 (if that is what you were thinking).

I tried to bridge the connection eth to wifi and failed. My router is around 70 feet away and supports all automation in the house, and is located at the only cable connection from the street. Everything in the shack and workshop is wifi and works fb.
Now trying to install 3.9.19 after cold boot, factory reset the error says the connection to the radio is lost - end of firmware install.
So far, 5 hours in this nonsense. Lucky I'm retired so my time is worth nothing. Getting more frustrated. Radio seems bricked. Was FB before starting update. Now junk.
I will try and set up another router bridge to the main and try eth to that device.

As a last resort, do you have a friend that has a internet connection ( wired) that you can take your radio and computer to and do the changes there? I have found that WiFi isn't the best way to do an upgrade or downgrade. Maybe, you could temporarily move everything closer to your router and use the wired connection to get things sorted.

You can turn on Internet Connection Sharing in Windows and that will allow your radio to connect to the internet via a windows computer.

I'll try sharing.
The direct connect has never failed in any prior upgrades.
Thanks

Mike, thanks for the direction. Its been a decade or more since playing with sharing. W11 makes is confusing until you find the well hidden (to me) pages.
I wanted to let you know it worked.

Upgrades do not require a call home for a license check. Moving to v4 does so that is why the radio needs a brief internet connection.
Glad to hear it worked!

The customer service is exceptional.
But the Win 11 problems it's causing for V4 are numerous. Try fixing the DAX drivers. Unfortunately, I can't use DAX due to Hypervisor-protected Code Integrity (HVCI). I tried disabling it, but that doesn't help.0 -
There have been hints that they are working on "revamping" the entire DAX system. That is probably good news.

In the meantime, I can't do any digital contest activities.

Well, DAX has needed attention for years. Should have had priority over “features” before now.
