Features that will be unavailable or lost when updating to 4.0

I read about those that are updating from v1 or v2 to v4.0 Basic won't get Smartlink or multilink; as they are not 'included' in the v4.0 software.

What about those of us who upgrade from v3 to v4? Since v4 doesn't include smartlink/multilink will we lose those features are well?

thanks,

You are misinformed. In a V3 to V4 change, there is no loss of SmartLink or "multilink" by which I presume you mean MultiFlex.

I'm sorry typo, I meant multiflex. The release notes say specifically version 4 DOES NOT contain Smartlink or Multiflex. Just wondering how it still works, I guess the machine runs v3 and v 4 together then. Not sure how it works, just not wanting to lose that ability. I understand that those who never had that ability will not GAIN that ability by going to v4.0.

    thanks,

There are only four references to SmartLink in the release notes and the pertinent one is

"For radios licensedfor SmartSDR v1, the SmartLink feature introduced in SmartSDR v2, along with all major features from SmartSDR v3, are not included in SmartSDR v4 Basic."

This is not the same as "specifically version 4 DOES NOT contain SmartLink….."

If you upgrade from V3 to V4, all existing features are still available. The proof being that with 4.0.1 I have SmartLink and MultiFlex.

But it's not written that clearly. It could also be misunderstood. It's no problem to write it in a way that makes it clear.

True to the motto: why make it simple when you can make it complicated?

It is clearly stated that there are no new features, only bug fixes.

From version 1 to version 4, version 1 did not have multiflex, while version 4 is only fixing bugs, not introducing new features.

Version 3 to version 4 has the same features (multiflex was part of version 3), but it is not a new feature.

The basic free version for everyone includes only bug fixes.

SmartSDR+ includes bug fixes and updates to new features for the next 365 days. However, new features that have not been released will be available after approximately 30 days from release date.

SmartSDR+ Early Access is similar to SmartSDR+, but you get the feature at least 30 days before SmartSDR+.

I hope this explanation makes sense.
