Should I be able to tune in RTTY mode?
In all modes except RTTY, going into Tune produces a carrier as expected.
However, as I found out in CQ WW RTTY Test this past weekend, in RTTY mode it is not possible to Tune.
There is no output from the radio.
Some versions ago, Tune worked fine in RTTY. Then there was a bug introduced where, although Tune worked, the carrier was +2kHz from the dial frequency. In 3.9.19 there is no Tune at all. Should it be like this?
I did do a radio reset but to no avail.
Erik.

Do you have DAX on?

Yes John, DAX is on. The issue is not DAX related but mode related. With same settings and working in SSB, CW, DIGU etc there is no Tune in RTTY.

I get the same on my 6600 Erik.

Rich - thank you for confirming.
Is it a bug or is Tune deliberately suppressed in RTTY? I cannot imagine why it would be and it did not used to be this way.

When I click on tune here in rtty mode, I get power out to whatever I set tune power to on my 6600 and 6400 using Mac or Windoze SSDR. I'm on the latest version 3.10.10.

Tune does work in RTTY mode. If you are not able to, please open a support ticket so we can track it to a root cause.
thanks

I am on 3.9.19 due to the broken IQ stream in 3.10.10 and that could be the reason for no tune if it was fixed recently. So I'll wait for the next version, update and see if it works then.
Thanks for the feedback.
Erik.

I participate in a lot of RTTY contests and I don't recall ever having any problems with tune in any version.

But some are, as shown above. So something either is or has been amiss somewhere.

It was given SMART-11364 when I reported it months ago.

Erik,
I also have the no power with TUNE in RTTY mode, 8600 running 3.9.19. Which is a bit annoying as have to stop SDC in order to change mode to something else, tune antenna and then restart SDC contest.
Hope this is will be fixed in an upcoming release.

It is very annoying. It plagued me in CQ WW and now in JARTS. Reported months ago.

Has anyone noticed that TUNE in RTTY mode is not working again in v4.1.3?
I am prepping for RTTY Roundup and discovered the same issue that I thought was fixed v4.0.1 according to the release notes.
SMART-11364 - Fixed RTTY showing no RF carrier when using the TUNE feature.

Hi Eric,
Yes tune in RTTY does not work for me in 4.1.5 (8600 + Maestro + SDC Contest). It's quite annoying - I either have to stop SDC (at which point tune in RTTY starts working again) or switch modes to match my doublet.
With SDC Contest connected to the 8600, the tune button switches TX on but there is no RF power (no tone) produced.

Thanks for that quick feedback. Very interesting. I did not think to stop SDC Skimmer that I had running. When I do, the TUNE button works in RTTY mode. I'll have to update the ticket I filed with Flex. I am still running an older version of SDC, v17.34. What version of SDC are you running?

Hi Eric,
I'm running SDC 19.04, I use it always in contest mode but I think you are right its the presence of the IQ stream connection that causes the Flex to fail the RTTY tune.
