From the first 4 characters, it was built in the 49th week of 2018.

so it could have the famous heat sink problem of the first series?

It might have but it would have been recalled within weeks of shipping. If it had a heatsink issue, it would not work at all.

All this very early recall amounted to was Flex sent out to those that could do it and pull off the Radio cover, was some replacement Heat transferring Double sided tape to replace the original tape that the Glue was not holding to the heat sinks, I think most people did this fix them selves but I am sure there are those that would rather ship there Radio back for repair.

    Hi Bret

No, we actually recalled all of them to replace the temporary repairs. We hunted them all down.

Well Mike speaking from experience, they didn't contact me after the new heat transfer sticky pads for the SCU's where sent out and they didn't have me return my 6600M and the support ticket was closed. This was really early in production in 2018 so maybe a different problem all together, the SCU's would actually fall away from the Heatsinks and the Radio would shut down with a High Temp Alarm.

    Hi Bret

Some customers (not many) did their own maintenance. I guess you being one of them. I might have been decided to leave well enough alone. But, to my point, you were contacted about it and the issue was resolved and all is OK.

My 6400, bought directly from Flex in 2018, after a week-long stay at a friend's house, received a recall from the company to fix the issue, but I know of many in Italy who have not received assistance.

Can you tell me who did not receive assistance? Are you saying all their radios are dead?

    hi mike

we are talking about 7 years ago maybe 8

I was the first to receive the Flex 6400 in Europe because I had purchased it a year earlier in the States during the recall due to the problem. Clearly, few others in Italy performed the repair themselves following Flex's instructions.

I found a picture of someone who repaired it himself. Mine arrived in Italy on may 30, 2018, with modifications made.
