PGXL should do a reboot, reset and self check when power down and re power your Flex Radio

A hot topic with PGXL is when it goes off line, it is lot harder to to find the IP Address, and you end up having to power down and re power to get it to find the IP address again. I feel that there needs to be fix that when you power down your flex radio, that the Amp would detect there is no IP, and then wait reboot and self check you get when you power down and re power it again.

It very hard to find a remote Off and On device to power down and power up the PGXL. Since this is not easy to attain in the US Market because most everything is on 120 Volts. Most people don't like the inconvenience of attempting to peace together a make shift power relay unit. Please come up with a better way of rebooting the PGXL that is stress free.

I Notice that sometimes that my PGXL reboots at times on its own doing the check sum of the self test and comes back on line. Since this is set onDHCP, that it is seeking a new IP Address. This should be something in the software to change that, to do that each time the Radio is powered off and on.

Thank You

I have tried to recreate this and I was not able to do it, so it sounds like it may be DHCP server (aka your router) on your network that maybe be contributing to this not working as it should.

Can you set up a DHCP reservation on your router for your PGXL and see if the problem goes away?

I'm using a DECO 55 mesh router and have reservations set up for all of my FlexRadios and 403a equipment (AG, TGXL and PGXL). My subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 yet my PGXL spontaneously hops off of its reserved ip and into another ip address outside of the subnet. So then of course the PGXL Utility is unable to find the amplifier. Rebooting everything is a cure but not ideal. Is there a way to turn off DHCP on the PGXL?

You can turn off DHCP by accessing Settings in the Utility, Network tab. Ensure that you complete all three fields. The PGXL will adopt the statically assigned address.

Whether this will solve your issue though is another matter. Spontaneous loss of the reserved ip may indicate an issue that needs a different solution.

I have not experienced this with version 3.8.9. I have not rebooted my amp is over 3 months.

I suggest trying another Ethernet cable and if possible another port where the cable plugs into the router or switch. Can you describe your network layout with make/model numbers of any switches/routers. If using a switch, any way to try a different switch or temporarily run an Ethernet cable direct to the router?

If a managed switch, try an unmanaged in case a port setting in the switch is not configured properly.

What is the renewal lease time for DHCP in router? Most routers use seconds as units of measurement. Asus routers use 86400 as default which is 24 hours. Try shortening it to 43200 which would be 12 hours.

Last, is it possible the are intermittent brown outs?

Again, This is a very uncommon problem. These are some steps I would take to try and isolate the issue.

I have had my PGXL in place for years. I go into standby at times and into complete power off at varies times and I have never had a reason to reset the PGXL at all.

It sounds like there is some other thing going on that you may wish to look into that is unique to your setup.
