Tuner Genius XL and Antenna Genius with Icom 7610

Took a leap of faith while at the Huntsville Hamfest and decided to put money down on the 8600. First time Flex owner. In the meantime, I ordered the Tuner Genius XL SO2R and the Antenna Genius. Been reading up on how these could possibly be connected to an Icom 7610 in the meantime. Thanks to everyone for all your questions and answers. It helped.

Anyhow I figured it all out and the Tuner and Antenna Genius are working OK with the Icom 7610 until the 8600 arrives later this year. I thought maybe the Antenna Genius and the Tuner would talk to each other in band changes, it doesn't seem the case with the Icom. When you Enable the Antenna Genius in the Tuner configuration, immediately the tuner will now throw an error up of "no PTT IN" when you transmit. However works flawlessly if I don't connect the 2 through the tuner, just have to manually switch the bands on the antenna genius. Not a big deal as this won't be forever and I probably don't expect an answer with using an Icom. But just in case someone has ran across this and has an answer I would appreciate it. Just enjoy figuring things out but I don't understand why it acts this way.

The TGXL and PGXL work perfectly with the Icom 7610. No PTT issues as you describe. They both talk top each other and follow band changes.

You may want to double check your setup.

I can also confirm perfect operation with both 7610 and 7851 rock solid

Check your radio settings and wiring

    To Mike and Peter:

Have you tried your current settings with CW…I have my station wired correctly and still get an RF Early with the 7610. I can put the power level all the way down to 1 watt and continue to see the warning…just curious…the delay is set to max 30…

Hi Ronald, is this the delay that you have set to 30? You might want to bump it up some to see if that helps.

Thanks Len but the my Flex 6600 works great on CW…the Icom 7610 is the radio I receive the RF Early notification…the Icom will only go to 30 ms…

Sorry, you clearly said 7610 and I read right by that...

you must key TGXL first then amp

The proper way is to key devices starting at the antenna and working backwards:

    1. Preamp (if installed)
    2. Tuner
    3. Amp
    4. Radio

You are correct about the proper way to connect the devices…

Connect the PTT OUT from your radio (it may be called TX GND) to the PTT A IN (red) connector on the TUNER.
Then connect an RCA Plug from the Tuner's PTT A OUT (White) jack to the PTT A IN (red) Jack on the Power Genius Amplifier.

Set the TX Delay (Or QSK Delay) in your radio to the 30 ms setting (40 if it will allow)

With this I continue to receive the RF Early indicator…
