Overheating in operating mode causing amp to shut down - HELP

Have an 8 month old PGXL recently updated to 3.7.32. Shortly after I started seeing problems with PA temp running abnormally high during ops. I don't run too much power only 25w in which usually gives 470-600w out depending on band. Very few times I opened it up to see the full 1500w. When operating the PA climbs to about 52*c and hovers there. After a couple of long transmissions the unit dies on next transmission. Only after putting it into Broadcast fan mode and driving the PA temp below 40*c it begins to work again. This isn't good.
Started two help desk orders and been trying to get a response back from FLEX on what to do. I was very happy with the unit until now. I had better luck with my Alpha 87a.
Andy can you help me?

    Hi Ed

This is best handled by our support team. Thanks for opening a support ticket.

Would love to see a follow up here detailing what the issue was. Support tickets may get the issue resolved faster, but they leave the rest of the community in the dark without a follow up post.
  • Since 28 AUG I have yet been given an answer on what the problem may be. I have sent in information of what I have seen and thoughts. One possibly being the fan. I did the 3.7.32 Software update that prior weekend and that's when this started. The unit still shuts down when PA temp reaches 52*c for more than 20 minutes. When temp stays that high with no key trans has me wondering even when the fan is in C mode. I let it set yesterday on a dummy load and did heat up tests thru the day each one seeing the same results. 52*c cutoff let cool to 45*c works again. Sort of points to a cooling issue or why the PA deck is staying so hot when in operation. Anyway no answer so far. If it wasn't in warranty I could tell you the answer. Maybe today I'll know what the techs think.

Sent mine in for similar issues, 2 months later I am still waiting on a concrete answer, and the repairs still have not been made. I hope you have had better luck then I with getting an answer, and getting your unit repaired.

We are now starting into our 3rd month with no resolve. To say that I am dissatisfied with the whole Flex experience would be an understatement.

It was supposedly put on the test bench 2 weeks ago, Nothing since.

Hopefully this will not be your experience in the trouble shooting/repair process.
