Bias fixed to mode

I am using a (new) PGXL with a non-Flex radio, using CAT control. The bias (AB/AAB) seems to be locked to the radio mode, and can not be changed from the utility or the touch screen. Is this the correct operation ?

Yes. AAB on voice modes sets VDD at 52 volts and bias to 4 amps. This gives better IMD performance.

For single tone modes (CW, FT8, etc) you can enable MEffA. This will set bias to 2 amps and adjust VDD on the fly to maximize efficiency and reduce heat.
