6400M on CW
Hello,
I have perhaps some expectations that cannot be met by the Flex 6400M on CW. It seems like the received signal is harsh on the ears. I have tried various filtering, but perhaps I am doing something wrong. I love the warm sound of the Yaesu FT1000D on CW, and their APF works incredibly well. I cannot say the same thing about the 6400M. Can someone give me some guidance on how to improve the received audio on CW? Perhaps it is in the settings? Or maybe the pure SDR radios cannot meet my ears' expectations?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Scott, W1AL

What is your AGC-T set to? If you have it set too high, it will sound harsh. Many make the mistake of using the AGC-T like an RF Gain control. You can do that, but you won't like the results.
That would be the first place I would look at.
