ESC funtion- curious findings
I've yet to convince myself that the ESC function works on my 6700 running v4.1.5
My most recent test was to connect the feeder from one antenna to both RXA and RXB, with 40m band and CW mode selected, and with a filter set to 250HZ. In DIV mode the audio from a CW transmission sounded as though it was coming from mid-way between the sterio speakers. It was as I expected (as RXA and RXB inputs were in-phase).
This was also the case when ESC mode was entered - as expected (because the audio from parent and child slices are in-phase and combined). However, I had expected to be able to null the two signals when one was phase shifted relative to the other by 180 deg. I couldn't find any setting of the amplitude or phase adjustment to produce any change in the combined signal.
By chance, there was a second CW signal about 1.6kHz above the desired signal that was only heard in the ESC mode. That wasn't expected. I was able to receive a signal on 7.023.400 and 7.025.000 simultaneously, with a 250Hz filter. This second signal couldn't be heard with DIV funciton selected. With the ESC function enabled it is as though the parent slice is receiving on 7.023.400 and the child slice is receiving on 7.250.000, even though the frequency display of the child slice shows 7.023.400. This lack of coherence between the parent and child slices would explain why adding the two signals doesn't produce any null (or peak)!
I've submitted a help request but been told that it may be several days until a low-priority request is assigned to someone.
The intent behind this post is views on whether my test was valid, and whether others with 6700 v4.1.5 show the same behaviour and, importantly, those with 8600 radios. The request might be assigned a higher priority if the current production is effected.

Hi John
We just found this bug as well and it will likely be fixed by 4.2 (SMART-12136).
Thanks for your detailed report.
