8400M + external Maestro?

Hi

I consider purchasing my very first Flex, but I have some doubts which one I shall choose.

I wish I knew is it possible to use e.g. the 8400M ATU series + another Maestro interface panel connected either to the main unit itself via LAN or Wi-Fi, or as a remote panel to manage my station remotely? Or I rather should choose 8400 ATU + external Maestro?

Thanks for your answer in advance

73! Stan

    I've always had an M model at home as well as a maestro; started with an 6600M and maestro B now have 8600M I am OLD FASHIOJED and like playing with knobs in front of me rather than on a computer; I have a maestro that I leave at my xyl apartment in manhattan; and a C i have in the office; if you like to have a real radio in front of you and NOT have to rely on a computer go with an M model AND A MAESTRO for remote; as a noted just got back my tgxl from FLEX so hopefully can now run the tuner AND AMP remotely too; hope that answers you question;

    Hi Stan, it depends on what you want to do. If you want front panel control from two locations and don't mind moving the front panel from one location to the other, a non-M version plus a Maestro would work great.

    If you have a home station and a permanent remote location that you want to always have ready, an M model at home plus a Maestro at the remote location would be very convenient.

    A non-M model and a Maestro at home and another Maestro at the remote site would give you the ultimate in flexibility.

    Hi Len

    Thanks so much for your very informative answer and replying this fast :-)
    Ok, so if I understood correctly, I can use Maestro with e.g. 8400M ATU, both locally and remotely. Correct? Like having 2 synced Maestro displays at my shack + an option to take one to operate from another place.

    One more question. If I purchase a Flex without ATU, and one day I decide to buy the ATU unit, can I install it later on my own?

    Greeting!

    Yes. The radio supports 2 clients from any source and any mix. Front panel, LAN, MAC, iPad regardless if they are a local or SmartLink connection.

    You can mix and match as required.
