SmartSDR Login?

I’ve have a 6600 and 8600 on the same email address in Smartsdr. I would like to be able to give a sign-in to friends to try out Flex Radio’s. The only way I see to limit there use is to separate the radio sign-in’s. The licsense is per radio, so that should not be a problem? Has anyone done this and what are the problems? 73, Steven

Yes, the only way to do this is to re-register the radio to a new email address, or just share the one you have. After all, he is a friend.

You might want to look at I Share Radio as it will support FlexRadio multiple logins.

Hi Steven, I do as Mike suggests - I set up a guest SmartLink account and register the radio to it when I let other folks operate it. This allows me to let acquaintances (i.e. not close friends) use the radio temporarily.

I am also writing a new utility to manage and monitor connections to the radio. I am mostly doing this for a local club, but it might be useful for individuals who want to share their radios. This should be available in the next few days.

Hi Steven, I would set up a SmartLink guest account now. Just unregister the radio that you want to share and re-register it under the guest account. I think you would want it this way, even if you use my Flex User Monitor utility in the (near) future.

I have three primary reasons for sharing my radios. The most common is people looking to buy a Flex. I have them log in to my guest account and I let them do everything except transmit. I just set Max Power to zero and select PTT Inhibit for all bands.

The second reason is to let people hear the difference among my antennas. Once they see (and hear) my loop on ground, they tend to build one for themselves.

The final reason is helping other developers. Simon, NV0E is on a fast track to having a viable Linux version of SmartSDR available. He has been logging into my 6400 and 8600 radios to get SmartLink working and to understand network traffic and API commands and responses for the 8600.
