power cable serie 6000
A friend lost the power cable for his Flex 6400. I'll build it for him. What type of jack does it need? Male or female. Could you tell me the model?
I'll order it on AliExpress.
Tnx in advance.

Power poles are genderless. They should be 45 amp connectors.

Maybe , I should have mentioned that it plugs into a female connector mounted on the rear of the radio.

Hi James, Anderson PowerPoles do not have a male or female characteristic. The connectors that plug together are exactly the same and rely on orientation to ensure that they don't get cross-connected.

@IK8HCG Be careful ordering pre-built cables. Here in the US, there is a standard way to wire them (compatible with Flex), but Anan wires them in reverse. This makes it possible to reverse the voltage on the radio if you use the wrong cable. PowerWerx sells cabling that is wired correctly for Flex radios. Amazon has cables that are in one orientation on one end and the opposite orientation on the other end - very dangerous!
I have not seen any 8 gauge pre-built cables, they are all 10 gauge or smaller. You might be better off buying 8 gauge wire and 45 amp PowerPole connectors and building them yourself.

You don't have to be a scientist to wire a red and black for power

Len, you are correct. Old age strikes again! I had to dig out my Power Pole connector kit and sure enough, the connectors will plug into each other.

Be careful with the AliExpress cables. They are subject to corrosion. What happens is after some period of time you start to get 1 to 2 ohms or resistance on them. Then, at full power, you get 1 or 2 volts of voltage drop and the radio then powers off due to low voltage.
Try to use authentic Power Poles. There is a difference.
