Transmit Inhibit?

I'd like to allow an SWL friend to use my 8600 remotely, so I'd like to inhibit transmit. Can this be done, and not be overridden by the remote user?

You can double-protect it in the "Settings > Radio Setup > TX" by entering MAX POWER = 0

Then in TX BAND SETTINGS, click on PTT INHIBIT for all of the bands.

This gives you two separate places that would need to be changed in order to accidentally transmit.

There is no really way to hard code this.

What we do for hamfests is go into the TX Band Settings and turn on TX Inhibit. This isn't foolproof but it is a start.

As this is a friend, are they not a good enough friend that you can trust them?

TX Band Settings…a fine idea! Oh yes, he's trustworthy, just trying to eliminate, maybe, hitting MOX by mistake. I see that I can also set Tune PWR to zero on all bands. Thanks Mike!

Our club has remote users with two Flex radios. When I set up the remote access I had similar concerns regarding the TX ANT. We use Node-RED to control the radio. It monitors the ANT section and if you choose anything other than ANT1 the system will override your choice and set the ANT back to ANT1. This approach could easily be applied to turn on TX Inhibit when the client ip address is detected.

Mick, are your flows available somewhere. They sound really cool.
