USB settings backup

Options

when i do a backup, my USB settings for my BIT cable are lost. the name of the cable is there but no settings. (the CAT cable info is good) I have an external antenna switch that i switch based on the operating frequency. It takes me a while to reconfigure. I will print screen the next time. !

Any ideas?

thanks, WU3x Keith

Keith: I can't solve your issue but I have a somewhat similar experience. I use GoodSync as a backup utility. For the past 4 months or so, anytime GoodSync does its thing, my DAX is killed. The DAX app continues to run but it stops sending data to my audio aps and the little blue squares in the DAX window turn from blue to yellow. If I close DAX and restart it, it functions normally until the next time GoodSync runs.

GoodSync does an automated backup each morning at 3 am so restarting DAX has become part of my morning experience. I took the DAX data folder out of the GoodSync backup path and that has not made any difference. I don't have to reconfigure anything to get DAX going again, so your repair job is considerably more onerous than mine.

GoodSync has two phases when it runs. It scans folders, looking for file changes. And then it copies any changed files to the backup location. The scan is harmless but it is the file copying that kills DAX. I backup to a local NAS and to cloud storage, and either backup can **** DAX.

What are you using to perform your backup?

My dax does the same as yours but i dont run Goodsync. Usually a few minutes after starting Smartsdr, dax fails. Reinstalled Win11. Still does it. I think it’s a dax bug

Hi Wayne, there is a known issue with DAX in Win 11. For now, you need to disable Core Isolation in Win 11 if you want to run DAX .

i have core isolation disabled. Problem still exists

Ah, ok. Probably time to submit a help desk ticket.

    @Wayne VK4ACN

There are the quick notes for resolving the issue from @Eric-KE5DTO.

    • Uninstalled the DAX drivers (manually via batch files in C:\Program Files\SmartSDR v3.x.x\64-bit Drivers\)
    • Reboot
    • Turn off Memory Integrity check in Core Isolation settings
    • Reinstall DAX drivers (manually via batch files in C:\Program Files\SmartSDR v3.x.x\64-bit Drivers\)
    • Reboot
    • Turn on option in Microphone Privacy that allows apps to use the microphone as shown in the screenshot in the community thread.

Michael i will try that later. I had done that previously but didn’t help. That was before I reinstalled Win11. But I’ll try again I also have previously submitted help desk ticket but didn’t get much joy there either. Its an annoyance, just hoping it’s fixed sometime soon

My original question was the USB bit cable information is not backed up by the profile manager. I do this before i do a software update. 2 times i had to manually restore the settings. I have a complicated antenna switch that i need for my remote operation. switched based on frequency.

It had nothing to do with DAX. Am i in the correct area of the forum to ask this.

USB BIT CABLE BACKUP RESTORE DOSENT WORK !!

Keith, yes, you are in the correct place. Wayne hijacked the thread. This has nothing to do with DAX.

I don't think the USB BIT cables are restored after a reset. Sorry. All I can suggest is that you keep a file with screen shots in them.

thanks mike / I do that just in case. I was thinking i must have missed something. Hopefully that can be fixed. Is there a file containing the information for the cables that i can manually copy. It must be somewhere as they are never lost when i start the radio,. Defiantly not a major issue. I have never had a problem with the radio since the day i purchased. (several years now)

    73 Thanks

    Hi Keith

The USB Bit settings are stored in the radio computer system.

I reset radios all the time and I have to manually re-enter them. It usually doesn't take me too long.
