Hackers Attack Trying to gain access to my 6600

Past few days my Fidium gateway modem/router has been reporting an attempted access to my 6600 from England and Holand and blocked them.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Also just to review what are the best settings for the gateway modem/router for security purposes and allowing the 6600 access.

Some the attempted access could just be 'trolling' software which randomly scans ip addresses looking for open ports….

I think everyone in the world is seeing this if they looked at their firewall logs.

    Why SmartLink Is So Secure

FlexRadio’s SmartLink lets you operate your FLEX-6000 series radio remotely, with strong security baked into its design. While it does use port forwarding (one TCP and one UDP), it's still very secure for several key reasons:

    1. Encrypted Communications

SmartLink uses TLS (Transport Layer Security)—the same encryption standard trusted in online banking and e-commerce. This keeps your voice, control, and metadata traffic encrypted and safe from prying eyes.

    2. Authenticated Access with Automatic Port Forwarding

Access to your radio is tightly controlled through your SmartLink account. Only authenticated users can connect—and with the correct ports forwarded, which is typically handled automatically via UPnP on compatible routers, the setup is both secure and hassle-free.

    3. Minimal Attack Surface

SmartLink exposes only two ports (one TCP and one UDP), significantly reducing the attack surface compared to older remote access methods. There’s no need to open broad firewall rules or rely on third-party remote desktop tools.

    4. Network-Friendly and Reliable

SmartLink is designed to work cleanly across NAT and firewall environments, offering secure and stable connections from anywhere you have internet access.
