8600 WSJTX Temp Seems High and Fans Inconsistent

Just got my 8600 which replaced my 6700 (that worked flawlessly). Just on RX, the 8600 fans are much louder than the 6700 in TX. Tonight, my 1st time on WSJTX with the 8600, I noticed that while only running 10W, the temp readout on DDUTIL was in the low 40's C. Then the fans on the 8600 started running at max speed (I think max by how loud they became). Curious, I increased drive to 65W on my LP-700 power meter and just about 70W on the 8600 Po meter. After several minutes of making contacts, the temp rose to mid-50's and the fan actually became quieter, sort of how they sounded when first turned on in RX. After a few more minutes of making FT8 contacts the temp rose to 62C and I stopped. I do NOT have the optional GPSDO, just the stock GNSS. I allowed the radio to cool down in RX and after about 5 minutes it read 31C and the fans sounded much the same as when it hit 62C. I don't think running FT8 at 60+C is healthy in the long term. I never had the 6700 run that hot, occasionally the 6700 would hit the low 40'sC. I will try again tomorrow and see how the fans behave with a slower, incremental increase in Po in FT8 and also in RTTY.

Same here, upgraded from a 6700, that worked flawlessly. To a just unboxed 8600. In RX the fans are significantly louder than my 6700. This evening tried some FT8 at 40 watts. By my 4th CQ, the temperature was in at 75 C and climbing. Repeated the experiment 3 more times with the same results. In my case the fans never changed speed.

So far have not paid any attention to the temperature on SSB. Will have a close look at tomorrow.
