Flex ad trying to attract buyers
Have you seen the new Flex Radio ad for the Aurora? A particular Flex Radio employee told me that the people that they showed this ad to got a "chuckle " out of it. Flex Radio has decided to use a play on a popular acronym W T F in their latest ad. I was told that it stood for Watts to The F layer. Ask that at a hamfest or most anyone, and that would not be what comes to mind. I see it as a company lowering their standards and playing to the lowest common denominator. Maybe, there will be a cut the green wire ad come out to open the radio up for the CB and free band crowd. Coming soon to your favorite CB shop!

Hahaha even the software running this forum finds it offensive!

I do find it interesting that CB operators might find your comments offensive.

Some probably would! It's sad to me to see that Flex Radio and yourself don't understand my comments and concerns. One way or the other we will see if advertising of this sort is acceptable by the Amateur Radio community or not. My guess unfortunately, is it probably won't make a big difference to many as many people tend to overlook the obvious and latch on to the glitz and hype. Again, it's all about the money. Nothing else matters. Not even a well earned reputation.

I have decided I am not going to be share my thoughts on, what " I " consider to be proper language or allusion to, improper language. It has become abundantly clear that the use of what was once considered improper language or even referenced indirectly with acronyms like W T F , is now considered okay. And it doesn't matter if it could possibly reflect poorly on a company using it in hopes that it will attract new customers. For the time being, I will continue to wait for delivery of my 520M. But, if I had seen the ad in QST before I made the decision to purchase, I would not have went further and researched what Aurora was and what technology it represents. Instead, I would have shook my head and turned the page. And Flex Radio would have made one less $9,599.00 sale. ( not counting sales tax that will be collected upon shipping) At least that way, one of the more cool guys would have the chance to buy a 520M. As it is, I will stick with my order ( unless something better comes along) and just ignore what I consider juvenile actions from a advertising department that apparently has no class.
