cw settings disappear
On my 6400M and now on my 8400M whenever I change bands, normally using the profiles, the cw settings are set back to default. Sometimes only one or two get changed, sometimes they all are reset. Speed goes to 30wpm, sidetone to 80 and pitch to 600. I have saved and resave the profiles but it almost always happens, other types of settings seem to stay like I saved them. This happened with ver 3.8 and now with 3.9.
All else seems to be working fine. Except the GPS takes hours to lock onto satellites but then it seems to stay locked until I power down the radio. Fan noise is a little louder but not excessively so, no weird noises like some have reported, and this is a new radio, only had it less than a week so maybe they have made changes to the fan mounting.

Hi Fred… When you say you 'change bands', are you doing this via selecting a new band from the 'band' tab on the left side of the screen, or are you switching to a different proflle?
I (and a couple of others I know on the forum) use the latter — saving specific profiles for each of the bands and modes (i.e. 40m CW, 40m phone, 20m CW, 20m Phone, etc.). I find with this method, all my settings (including AGC-T) are automagically established 'just right' for the band.
Switching bands via the 'band tab' (i.e. directly switching bands) seems (for me) to default to either the system defaults or the last settings it had for that band. Even switching modes on the same band directly (not via profile) seems to set everything to 'defaults'.
Hope this helps.

CW settings are radio persistence variables. One possibility is that the persistence database needs a reset.

When I change to CW my settings return to how I set them. But I have previously encountered the same trouble and a reset cured it.

Thanks for the help, but it did not work. I followed the instructions from the article by Tim and 3/4 of the cw settings were not the way they should be. So I went thru each cw profile, again, and changed each one just the way I wanted it. Saved each one and by the time I got finished I went back and loaded the first profile, it was fine. Then I loaded the second profile and it was not the way I saved it. At least 60 percent of the profiles were wrong. I will turn off the automatic profile save and see if that makes a difference. Maybe once I get them the way I want them, and don't automagically save them they might stay the way I want.

I went thru all my cw profiles and set them, one at a time, with the proper values for my cw ops. After several hours I pulled up each profile and they seemed to have the proper values in them. Had to turn off the radio tonight due to thunderstorms but will check the profiles tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.

Still having problem with the cw settings not being maintained. Did the process recommended to reset the persistence database but no joy. As an example I set the radio to 20 meters cw. Then I set all the cw settings the way I want them; delay, speed, sidetone and pitch. Export the saved settings. They sometimes are correct and sometimes they are back to default values. Even if they are correct if I move to different freqs and/or modes and then recall the 20 meter cw profile they are often reset to default. Not always but eventually they do get reset to default values. Sometimes not all the settings get reset, sometimes only the speed, or maybe the pitch, or maybe 2 or 3 values get reset.
Don't think this is a problem with ver 3.9 cuz I had the same problem with ver 3.8.

Hi Fred,
Just to chime in on this, I'm having a version of this problem too. In my case, no matter what I do I can't get CW speed and TX time to be remembered on one particular band (12M in my case). I've done the "reset the persistence database" thing, full factory reset, toggled auto save on for awhile (I usually have it off), all multiple times. I suspect I'd have the same problem if I tried to save things on other bands too but for now the profile values are what I want and I don't want to risk screwing them up.
Definitely a bug.

Russ and Fred, if you have not, please open a support ticket. This is not normal and needs to be tracked.
