Control of AGC Default Level Setting

I'm looking for a way to establish the default AGC level for a newly launched slice/panadapter. I'd observed there is some recall of previous settings for a frequency and mode last visited, and it would be great to know where those settings are stored and if there is a way to edit them outside of a live slice. The main question I have though is how can I set the default AGC level for any new slice (control is identified in the attached screenshot).
Thanks,
Mark

It is described in section 18.7 of the SmartSDR user guide and you want to read the part about Persistence.

It would be most helpful if AGC persistence would remember settings not just by band, but by band and mode. The AGC settings I use for 20m FT8, for example, are very different than the AGC settings I use for 20m CW.

I wonder if the added layering you want may be best-served with Profiles?
As an example: when I want to change from 20m CW to 20m SSB, my settings (like yours) are very different. So I don't click-change from CW to SSB, but instead I leave Profile Manager open and make my selection there. This way, NB and NR are also changed, certainly AGC-T (which often benefits from daily or even hourly tweaking, depending on circumstances), filtering, etc.
I find the Persistence to be OK when I randomly listen around, but for focussed, intentional operation - the Profiles do it for me.

Thanks, Gord, for your suggestion.
When I change modes (or, bands and modes) it is almost always done via third party software like WSJT-X, N1MM+ or DXLab. Not by interacting with either SSDR or a Maestro. Clicking on a spot is a common example.
Yes, I could create an appropriate profile in SSDR, but wouldn't I need a lot of profiles, one for each band/mode combination? Or an appropriate memory in SliceMaster but with a similar need for many combinations? And then, of course, I would still have to tune the radio to the desired frequency if I am chasing a spot.
It seems like the cleanest solution would be for the Flex to remember the last AGC setting I used when I command a QSY to a band/mode combination.
