Don't be that guy

It is best to finish your coffee before connecting RF equipment.

Early this morning, I mistakenly connected my Rigexpert Stick Pro to the wrong end of the coax, and measured the #1 antenna port of the TGXL, which of course was connected to the Flex 6400 at the time. Strange readings, that. 🙄

I was not near the operating desk, so if there were any protection errors displayed, I missed them, and the receiver still seems to work normally. It appears from the product literature of both companies that the Rigexperts output about -10dBm, and a Flex won't complain until we hit +8dBm, so my read on this little mishap is that there is no chance it could have caused damage.

It's totally ok to chuckle. Just wondering if my assessment is accurate.

The radio will give you an error and trip out due to too strong rf coming in. My 6500 would. It does reset. But you don't want to be doing that though. Bullet dodged. I thought you measured the output of the radio to the rig expoof... that might have started a bit of a fire. That wouldn't have survived. I like my antenna analyzer (55) to blast it up... they are nice devices. DD

No, the only thing generating RF was the analyzer, fortunately. Not that much drama …
