Hi Ben, each GUI client (e.g. front panel, SmartSDR, Maestro) is treated as a separate station and each operates independently. When two are on at the same time, you will see the multiFLEX indicator on the bottom of your SmartSDR screen as well as on the front panel. This is by design so that multiple operators can run the radio simultaneously, especially for contesting (one operating on a run frequency, the other hunting for multipliers). Not being much of a contester, I cannot imagine trying this…

What you are looking for is SmartControl mode. Look in section 9 of the Maestro User's Guide.

    https://www.flexradio.com/documentation/maestro-user-guide-pdf/

With SmartControl, you get the best of both worlds - the large screen with keyboard and mouse control on your computer as well as the front panel controls. In SmartControl, the front panel controls are in sync with the SmartSDR display. You can user either to operate the radio.

The radio is a radio server and is able to support multiple receivers (and users) from 30Khz to 54Mhz.

This is a BIG change from all other HF radios available today and makes the radio a very versatile radio. You are now not locked in to a single function.

Don't hesitate to ask questions here. It is a very good a knowledgeable group.

And, don't worry about sounding like a new user. Those questions are welcome and if the answer doesn't make sense, ask for it to be explained further.

    73 and welcome
