Is there any way to work around the auto save feature in Tx and Mic profiles such that a Mic or Tx profile are static and unchanging if I say shut down my radio after use and have it return to a saved state that doesn't reflect changes made in a previous session?

    Thank you Community,

Hi Craig.. short answer is 'No' (unfortunately) at least in the SmartSDR software. We've been asking for a switch to turn off auto-save since it was introduced :-)

Thank you Don for your reply. It would be good to know the state of the radio without having to account for any changes made in prior session(s). This could be particularly beneficial in a multi user/Multiflex scenario.

Now, that said, I've been saving various Global Profiles for each of the band/modes that I normally operate (e.g. 20m phone, 40m CW, 17m phone, etc.) and I use those for navigating band-to-band. I'm not EXACTLY sure, but I think that mitigates somewhat the 'changes I may have made last time' scenario. My experience is that once I load the profile, most everything is set to whatever is in the profile — at least, that's what it feels like.

It does mean that every once in a while, I have to go into each profile, re-set the AGT-C and NB levels, then re-save the profile back, but it's not a big deal.

Oh… and once I set up the MIC profile, the only thing I change during phone operation is the MIC LEVEL as I watch my modulation levels :-)

Hi Don, that is exactly how I use profiles. I have gotten to where I don't use the band buttons at all anymore - I just click the appropriate profile and I am set.

I also enjoy using profiles in the same way and have several per band for favorite operating modes and frequencies. However, the list has grown very long. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have folders inside of Profiles to keep them neatened up? I might label a folder by band while someone else might label it by operating mode. Jim KD1I

Jim KD1L, you might want to take a look at running FRStacks. Along with several other useful features, it has a tab for each type of Profile which allows for quick viewing and switching. Depending upon how you operate it might be a good solution for you or someone else.

Here is a link if needed.

John, thank you for the link…. I will check that out today. Seems it would be easy to do in SSDR but in the meantime this would be welcome. Best 73, Jim
