Can't add new com ports after corruption.
My F 6500 is running 3.8.19 and just lost com port communications to other apps such as Logger 32. When I checked in the CAT tool, only TCP Port 5002 slice A and VARA Monitor TCP port 8350 slice A were present. I tried to create a new port for each app and noted it started at port 10. A quick check of ports in Windows 10 showed all of the old ports were present.
I used Tim's procedure to delete all of the ports, rebooted and tried again to create new ports.
I get a message: "The virtual serial port (VSP) failed to create. Double check the serial port settings" Further attempts were unsuccessful so I then used Tim's procedure to reset the CAT.settings file, using %APPDATA%\FlexRadio Systems. This did allow me to remove that file. I rebooted and launched SSDR and CAT.
This still did not allow me to create new ports. Only the Flex Control knob works at this point. I am unable to create new ports despite several tries of each procedure. I had experienced this years ago but the procedures had allowed me to correct the issue and I was able, at that time, to create new cat ports.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. 73 All, Jim KD1I

OK, update… May be helpful to anyone who may experience this. Mike opened a helpdesk ticket for me. (Thank You, Mike) and I received a quick reply. I was given the document: "How to repair the FlexVSP Virtual Serial Port Driver". This procedure did solve the problem ! I was able to recreate all my CAT ports. It really was easy to do. Thanks again to all the great Flex guys for all their support. 73 all, Jim KD1I

I am having the same problem. Ports that were set up don’t work.
I don’t use these ports very much.

The ports I had worked just fine for a very long time. They stopped working so I tried to delete them and recreate as I had done in the past. I was not able to do this as stated above. I tried the procedures that Tim published what were successful in past years to no avail. I use these ports for Logger32, FLDIGI, Winlink, VarAC and more. It would be very nice to have them back.

FWIW, I just did a factory reset and reimported my profiles. While that did work, it did NOT solve the issue of the CAT ports. I still cannot create any CAT ports. Honestly, I am out of ideas for now.
Any input would be welcome. Jim KD1I

As a last resort, I just upgraded to release 3.8.20 and did a cold reboot of the radio and computer. No joy in Mudville. I think the answer is above my paygrade.

Hi Jim, I would submit a help desk ticket.

Hi Len. Yes, I suppose I will need to do that… I had hoped that some members would have offered a practical solution. This can't be the only radio that experienced this issue with the CAT ports… When I experienced this in the past, Tim's procedures resolved it each time. Thanks for the suggestion. Best 73, Jim
