Switching between my windows 11 laptop and windows 11 desktop, why does it downgrade?

I use my laptop and my desktop both with my Flex 6400. I replaced windows 10 laptop with a windows 11 laptop, to match Windows 11 on my desktop. After installing SmartSDR on my new win 11 machine, switching back to my windows 11 desktop, it requires a downgrade. Why?

You need to load the same version of SmartSDR on both computers. 3.8.20 is the latest V3 and 2.12.1 is the latest V2.

Len's nailed it - you need the same SmartSDR version on both computers.

I've run into issues where a desktop / taskbar icon remains from a previous software installation, and when I launch what I think is the latest version, it is not.

So I wonder if you may remove SmartSDR (and DAX and CAT) icons, then re-create them with a right-click on the known-latest SmartSDR executable? I think SmartSDR tries to help by including the version-number with the desktop-icon. Make sure you're trying to launch 3.8.20

Summary: my own inattention during an upgrade has led me to trying to launch a previous version of some softwares. And it usually ends badly.

Thanks! So my flex 6400, which I left on, must have automatically, unknowingly to 3.8.20?

Where is the update available on Smart SDR?

There is no way the radio would automatically upgrade to 3.8.20 or any version. It can only happen with a user initiating the upgrade. There is no 'code' in the radio to make that happen.

You can download 3.8.20 from the website in the download area.

@Gord-VA7GP Yes just delete the old Icons and create new ones. I just start the new version and then pin the Icons created on the task bar.
