SSDR & 4O3A Headset NC1

Hello,
Some time ago I bought a NC1 head from 4O3A through Wimo. When I connected the headset to my Flex radio 6600, I realized that my microphone was not working. Since it is a condenser microphone, I set Bias in SSDR in the radio settings, which allows me to give the microphone the desired voltage. I did that but the mic still doesn't work. Of course, the SSDR program does not offer me the mentioned NC1 product in the microphone selection settings.
That is why I am now wondering if any of the users of the Flex radio have already connected the mentioned head combination?
I already contacted 4O3A support, but they could not advise me to the extent that the microphone would work.
At the moment, unfortunately, I only use these headphones for CW, where I have to admit that they suppress external sounds and noise very well.

just got the NC1 and used it in CQWW for 48 hours with Flex 6600. Set Bias and correct mic input (MIC in my case) and everything worked 100%. ANC is great. Tuned the TX EQ settings for my liking. If you have the mic connected to radio it does not matter if TX DAX is on or off, it should work anyway.

NC1 works perfectly with my 6400M. As Mike VA3MW infers, for me anyway, the mic is inoperable if TX DAX is on.

I've tried all options with DAX on and off but it's always the same. Can you tell me which type of microphone should I choose in the SSDR program?

It's really interesting that this works for you because I read somewhere that the FR6600 has 3V Bias and the FR 6700, 6500 and 6300 have 5V as required by these headphones. Can you tell me which type of Microphone you chose in the Smart SDR program?

Dare, yes, MIC input in SSDR and of course the microphone also plugged into the MIC input at the back of the radio:) By type of microphone you mean perhaps the equalizer settings? That is not relevant to get the mic working.

Dare, that is what I was saying. It does not matter which mic setup you select. Every mic setup will change your BIAS and MIC settings. Just pick one of those EQ settings and then AFTER that go and see that your BIAS is active and mic input is correct.

There is nothing to be set on the headphones themselves. I used the USB C original mic.

I do not know if this helps but at least hopefully does not add to any confusion.

The headphone is irrelevant because it is the mic setting that is important.

In SSDR the list is just profiles and that NC1 is not listed is not important. Activate the correct settings i.e BIAS on with 20dB boost and save to a profile of your own.

Connect to radio per the diagram they provide for 6600M/6400M which presumably is also good for the non-M models (if not, find out why from 4O3A) :

I have PROC on at the DX+ setting and a mic level of 35. However these will be voice characteristic dependent.

If it does not work, report it to WiMO for their input. If you have another radio to use, test it with that.

Dare, yes, the same headphones but I have the original MIC plugged into USB C not MC-1. In any case, no difference I think. Of course, just make sure the MIC is working otherwise if you can with some other radio.

This sounds like the same issue that Heil has. The MIC connector on the headset is Mono (TS) while the Mic connector on the radio is TRS. You need to isolate the RING and you can actually find adapters on Amazon that do do this for you.

For my Heil headsets, I just cut off their connector and solder on a new TRS one. We have passed this on to Heil. You might want to ask 4O3A as well.

When setting up any Mic, I do this and build my own MIC profile:

• Plug the Mic into the radio or Maestro
• Select the right MIC input
• Turn on "Show Mic Audio Level while in RX" —why every radio doesn't do this, I have no idea
• Turn MIC gain to 100%
• Make sure TX DAX is off (DAX is never required for voice communications, it is only for Data)
• Go into the MIC settings and try the MIC both with our without BIAS while talking and watching the MIC LEVEL meter.
• Once you have MIC LEVEL deflection, set the MIC gain so your voice peaks are less than 0db (about -5db). You may have to turn the 20db gain on or off accordingly
• Create and save your own MIC profile
