Dual 6600 or 8600 on single computer
What is the possibility of running two separate radios on a single computer.
I would assume this would require two separate installs of the Flex software, However, can this occur. I am curious as I am in the queue to at some point receive a new 8600 and may consider running both my current 6600 as well as my, hopefully soon, new 8600 radios side by side on the same computer.

Mike-VA3MW Administrator, FlexRadio Employee, Community Manager, Super Elmer, Moderator adminOptionsYou can do this, but the limitation is that you can only run 1 copy of DAX and CAT to work with 1 radio at a time. You can easily switch from one computer to another.
You can have both radios on the network and work with both radios as you wish. Using them both simultaneously is a bit harder.

It would be nice if this "limitation" could be eliminated!

Mike-VA3MW Administrator, FlexRadio Employee, Community Manager, Super Elmer, Moderator adminOptionsWhile a good idea, it is a software nightmare.
CAT and DAX are the boundary layer between Software and the Hardware devices in Windows.
If you think a bit deeper it becomes a nightmare of resource management to ensure that you don't have conflicts.
It is actually just easier to buy another computer and less confusing.

So. DAX has 8 audio DAX ports. An 6600 and I am assuming 8600 has 4 slices which means there are 4 other DAX ports not being used. The issue I am assuming would be to allow two separate SDR Programs to connect to 1 SdrDAX App and 1 SdrCAT App.

Mike-VA3MW Administrator, FlexRadio Employee, Community Manager, Super Elmer, Moderator adminOptionsThen, add dealing with Windows Devices and naming conventions, MultiFlex, SmartLink and more.
The devil is in the details.
The good news is that none of what we do is a secret and we would welcome anyone else to build their own DAX and CAT just like the Linux people did.
When it comes down to a business decision, this would only be useful for a very small set of the install base. To move software resources would not be the best use of resources when we have lots of other higher priority items that would benefit more customers.
tldr; not many customers own more than 1 radio
We hear what you are asking however business economics come first.
