I did. But the spikes (Normaly from signals) are still high! And they dont move. From -95 dB to -40 dB +- They are so "massive" that you cant see where people have a qso. Becouse the spikes are BOOMING on the screen and going little up and down (They dont move)

Hmmmm difficult to help based on this description.

Is there any way you can take a screenshot and upload it so we can see what's happening?

  • Member ✭✭✭

Please post a screen shot of the relevant windows. Don't know how? This is how in Win 10 & 11:

Press Windows+Shift+S and mark the area to be copied.

Use Ctl+V or Shift+Insert to paste it into the email.

The more information you provide the more we can assist you...

Your display gain may have gotten set to high value. On the left hand side of the pan adapter click on "Display", move the gain slider to the left. See if this helps also make sure that the "Black" is set to "AUTO"

    These setting are by band.

take a screenshot showing main screen with display settings on right open. Once you open the display settings on left side of main SmartSDR hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard to take a screenshot. Use the photo icon on bottom of text entry window in the Community to then browse to the screenshot and select it to upload.

Hi Dave, he is a new user of the community and cannot post pics until he is confirmed. I no longer have the ability to confirm or verify others, so I can't help him. If you or Mike can confirm and/or verify him, he will be able to post pics.

I confirmed LB3BJ, but for others, all he had to do was reply to the confirmation email he received.

Thanks for the info Mike. I didn't know what drove that Community parameter.

Assuming that is visible without an antenna connected, then please open a support ticket to have the experts look into it.

Assuming a 6400 or 6600 and no antenna on antenna 2, can you switch to antenna 2 and see what that looks like?

If I listen to a start station and change the receiving antenna, I no longer hear anything. If I switch back again I don't hear anything either. BUT if I change the frequency a bit up and back again, then I hear them again

is that similar to what it looked like when heatsink came off SCU and it heated up?

also on left of panadapter click Display and show those settings

First click on Antenna on the left side of the display and move the RF Gain slider to the left till the Gain is zero. You really shouldn't need that much Gain ( 16 Db showing) on 80 meters.

Then move the AGC-T slider ( on the right side of the display) to the left. That should help reduce some of the intensity of the display.

Also, in the Antenna selection, there is a Gain slider for the waterfall display that will effect what you are seeing.

Finally, if you could get to the radio itself and disconnect the antenna ( or antennas) and see if the display clears up. If it doesn't, you have a problem with the radio or power supply. Or even some device local to the location of the radio.
