CW Software Recommendation

Hi All,

A happy Flex-6400M owner here. Mostly FT8 with WSJT-X and listening on the bands.

Based on recommendations here I've installed Slice Master and purchased a CW Skimmer license and CW Skimmer is working well.

Now I would like to try making CW QSOs but my Morse code skills have seriously deteriorated since the days when I had to pass the test for my General license. So I would like to find something that would let me send CW using my computer keyboard while I attempt to revive my CW sending skills.

Any recommendations for a software solution that will let me send CW while reading the decoded receive in CW Skimmer?

I do have a Ham Radio Deluxe license that I can upgrade and then download to get the most recent version of DM-780.

What say you?

If you are using CW Skimmer to read CW, then you can use CWX, which is part of SmartSDR to send CW with a keyboard.

Have a look at section 41.8 of the SmartSDR User Guide for more details.

Hi Dean, SmartSDR lets you do exactly that. In the lower left-hand corner, turn on CWX. Type into the little blue box to send CW.

If you want the sending to start as soon as you start typing, click Live (a red background indicates that it is in effect). If you want to type in and have it send when you want, leave Live off, type into the box then either hit the Enter key on your keyboard or click the Send button on the CWX screen to initiate the transmission.

Note that CWX will transmit whether you have Breakin set on or off.
