Maestro PTT delay

Ok, I have my shiny new Maestro on the desk in front of me and it's working like a champ. One peculiar thing I've noticed is that there's about a one second delay between closing the PTT to actual transmit. I've checked it with both the FHM3 PTT button and a footswitch.

Pressing MOX or TUNE on the Maestro puts it immediately into transmit, nor is there a delay when the 6600 is keyed via the PTT jack on the back of the radio.

It's only when the maestro is keyed by via the PTT jack.

The Maestro and 6600 are both connected to my home LAN and there's no network delay involved.

Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this just the way it works?

Turns out that I didn't have to go that far. I selected a different MIC profile on the Maestro, changed back to the FHM-3 profile and now the delay is gone.

Has there been a test connecting the Maestro directly to the radio, bypassing the LAN?

Are you asking if I have tried connecting the Maestro and the 6600 directly via an ethernet cable? When I do that the Maestro fails to boot properly. As it is, they are both connected to the same ethernet switch.

For the Link Local test that John recommends:

    • turn off the radio and the Maestro
    • connect a LAN cable directly between the Maestro and the radio - nothing else
    • Turn on both the Radio and the Maestro
    • You should see the Radio in the Maestro chooser - run the version you have been using 3.7.4 is recommended
    • Test and see if you have the delay. If yes, please open a support ticket. If no, then you have some strange latency in your home network that requires futher investigation
