v 4.1.8 No Antennas Reported

After fighting this thing after upgrading everything including firm to 4.1.8, then I read, "OH 4.1 is buggy." Downgrade to 3.X.

Well, that couldn't be done and after attempting to downgrade (this could to be done) and then going back 4.1.X when I run the utility it now says No Available Antennas. It sort of worked before on 4.1. I just had buggy switching.

I went from buggy to not working. To say Flex's documentation is terrible would be an understatement. The 4.1.X docs downloaded here do not match the 4.1.X utility. Some of the verbiage was changed but all the screen shots are the 3.1.X. Nothing matches the 4.1.x.

I have tried everything in the SAD documentation and this is where I am now. I cannot resolve the problem. I think I see why there are so many of these for sale. I am so disappointed in this unit and the money I spent for it. I have spent several weeks stringing dipoles for each band in my trees planning on connecting them all to this so I did not have to watch and switch. I have them all tuned ready to connect direct to my 6300. I picked up a 6300 months ago to see if I liked the concept. I saw all the new radios at Dayton and was planning on upgrading since I like the 6300, but… If Flex cannot put out documentation that works or at least matches what appears on the screens I have to wonder what will I be in for going to a newer radio.

It took several hours of digging on the Flex site to find where it said downgrade back to 3.1.X. Maybe I would not be so POD if the current docs did not say first thing "Upgrade to the latest firmware and utility." Maybe if the 4.1.x does not work, maybe they should put that up before you download the 4.1.X docs.

I would really like this 8X2 to work. I would even take it back in the buggy mode I had it. Any one have any suggestions on how to get this partial brick to work now????

Can you post some screen shots of your antenna configurations and pictures from the FLEX tab on the AG as well. Some of the basic steps are to define your antennas to the bands they cover. This is an example of my antennas.

If you look close, I use my 40M on 15M as well.

Then also make sure you have the AG connected to the radio. Here is mine working on the FLEX-8600.

It is a 403A product, so they will be the ones producing the documentation at some point. FlexRadio is the reseller of the product.

I have been using 4.1.8 for months now and it has been pretty solid for me.

I think if you provide more information on your configuration, we can help you through it.

I took a break and just started over. Reset everything and went back to 4.1.8. It is a bit buggy, but I think that maybe in the interface to N1MM+. I'll let you know.

I sure wish Flex's docs looked something like the app.

I doubt it is N1MM as it doesn't communicate with the AG at all.

Can you explain what a 'bit buggy' means?

    hi,

First, the AG may have corruption in the configuration from the process of going from 4.1.8 to 3.1.5 then back. In the advanced tab of the software is a reset tab. I would try that, power cycle the AG, then do the reset again. I have seen early version of firmware v4 that required the double reset to completely clear everything out of the config.

None of the dip switches should be on as all settings are done in software. Especially switches 7 & 8 which are used for reset procedure in 3.1.5

First step after reset is to defile a band or bands for each antenna port. Click Save.

Go to the Flex Radio tab and use the pull-down to select the S/N of your 6300. In the top section it should be Ant1 and LAN keying. Bottom section the S/n, Ant2 and LAN keying. Note on 6300, you can only have one antenna active for receive at a time.

As Mike said, more details of what is “buggy” Will help narrow it down. Too broad of a statement.
