Need technical support from FlexRadio? It's as simple as Creating a HelpDesk ticket.
Front panel says FLEX-6500 but comes up as a FLEX-6700

Hi… Not sure what's happening here, but my suggestion would be to open up a Help Desk Ticket and supply them with the serial # of the unit. That should help determine if you have a 6500 or 6700.
It's possible that, since you can essentially 'name' your rig anything you want in SmartSDR (i.e. the label in 'STATION:' at the bottom of the panadapter.
It's also possible either the radio's internal config file has been corrupted or has been incorrectly loaded. Maybe try a full reset of the radio and see if that helps.

I would bring up SmartSDR and look in the "Settings" tab, click on the Radio tab, in the serial number it should tell you what radio it is. If it has a 6500 in the serial number then it is a 6500 and the same thing with the 6700.
What has probably happened someone replaced the Front panel and maybe other parts from a 6500 for some reason or other for a Frankenstein radio.
SmartSDR 3.2 update: The Hardware Serial number of the RADIO is assigned to the SmartSDR version license so it doesn't matter how many time you re-install SmartSDR is not going to make a difference if the Serial numbers don't match with what FLEX set the version 3 license to. Once you find the correct serial number of the Radio hardware than you need to do a help desk ticket and find out why your Version 3 hasn't been attached to the Radio hardware.
I would HIGHLY recommend that you update to SmartSDR version 3.7.4 in any case with the Radio and if it is a 6700 you got a MUCH better Radio than the 6500.

I would submit a help desk ticket. Flex support will be able to sort it out

I agree with all the above. I was curious for myself, so I searched eBay, and I think I saw the radio you bought. It sure looks like a 6700 to me from the rear panel. I would be interested if you could share with us here how everything turns out once you get it figured out.

I meant v3.7, not v3.2 of smartsdr.0
