Headphone Audio via RRC with Maestro

TL:DR Question: Is there a way to enable the headphone jack on the physical remote radio at the same time I am using a Maestro for control and audio?

Details:

Before getting my Maestro, I used RRC with SSDR on my PC to get low latency remote audio and a CW sidetone. The remote RRC box was fed with audio from the 6600M radio's headphone jack.

With my Maestro running, there is no audio from the RRC so it appears the headphone jack on the radio itself has been disabled.

Is there a way to enable the physical radio's headphone jack while controlling it remotely with a Maestro?

Etc:

If I could get CW sidetone plus audio from the Maestro's headphone jack, that would be ideal but from searching here, it doesn't look possible. Which seems odd tbh.

I did see threads here suggesting a physical Winkeyer box alongside the Maestro or a program like "Sidetone" that uses virtual comm ports to monitor the Winkeyer stream and generate a sidetone. When I tried installing Sidetone the installer said it was going to update some DLL's used by MRP40 and I didn't want to risk breaking that program.

I did find one workaround which is to run the Maestro in SmartControl mode along with SSDR on the PC. That's OK but one benefit of the Maestro was not burdening the PC with running SSDR.

Will the Maestro ever support CW sidetone?

    Hi Rowland

I have an RRC that I use for specific types of remote testing, including latency. No, you can't have both running at the same time as you ask (Radio Speaker and Remote Audio).

I have found that the latency now on SmartSDR via SmartLink or via the Maestro is amazingly low and well-improved. This was fixed sometime after 3.6.

The physical winker solution does work as does using WKFlex. You might find it easier to get your issue with the software installation resolved.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I did install Sidetone and it didn't break MRP40 so I'll use that solution.

Is having Maestro generate a sidetone out of the question or is it just in the enhancement queue?

That is high in the enhancement Q. It is in the top 5 I would guess.
