Connecting a straight Key to Maestro C

The information in the user guide is incorrect. It says: „When Connecting a CW straight key, a TRS plug must be used for proper connectivity to the Maestro. Connect the key to the Tip and Sleeve, and leave the Ring unconnected“. That is wrong and will not work. Should be: Connect the key to the Ring and Sleeve, and leave the Tip unconnected!

I have yet to test this, but you also have to turn off Iambic.

Is it true that it is ring and sleave with Iambic off?

    thanks!

Yes, definitely, that's how it works here. Dots are generated with tip and sleeve, even if iambic is deactivated. Only the ring is set to continuous. It is a bit strange that this is described incorrectly in the manual.

Additional observation: when you activate „swap dash/dot“ it will be the Tip that has to be grounded for straight CW! So in general: deactivate Iambic and select Dashes and Sleeve contacts for straight CW. The remaining contact will always generate dots.

I have the same issue that surfaced this weekend. I have the Maestro B. Auto tuner works but I have no power out when I key my straight key. Thought I had it a few days earlier but don't know what happened. Since I operate remote I will go check my antenna across town to see if there are any issues I can see with the cobweb antenna. Any suggestions? I have iambic off and pitch set at 600. I can hear the code but just no power out. Rick N4WRW in Florida

Hi Rick, do you have Breakin enabled?
