PTT when wiring for balanced mic connection on 6600 ?

I am about to hack an old Heil CC-1-1 adapter cable that I used with an Icom 7610 and use a Heil Gold Elite connected to the balanced connection on the 6600 . The Heil Gold Elite has a PTT button on the mic. When using the balanced mic port on the 6600, do I split the wiring and connect PTT wires to the RCA Phono on the 6600 ... or should I be be able to accomplish everything with via using a XLR-4 to 1/4 Phone cable plugged in to the balanced port ? . The Heil mic pins for audio are 1 and 2 and PTT is 3 and 4 (according to old posts in the community ).

Mic audio and PTT are unique circuits and not related.

The PTT needs to be split out to the RCA PTT connector on the back of the 6600.
