SmartSDR v.3.5.9 Install Problems

SmartSDR v3.5.9 will not install DAX and CAT on my Dell computer running Windows 11. I have tried the various workarounds with no success, including several suggestions made by very helpful Flex Tech Support folks. I have had the same problem trying to install it in Parallels on my Mac with M1 processor.

According to Flex Tech Support this issue has been logged as defect number: J8210 -- "DAX not installing on PCs and Surface devices if Core Isolation/Memory Integrity or Secure Boot is enabled, and will not install on some computers at all, even if Core Isolation/Memory integrity is disabled."

Has anyone heard when this issue will be resolved? I have deleted v3.5.9 and have re-installed v3.4.24 which runs successfully. I would like to upgrade but trying to install v3.5.9 has been a very time-consuming and frustrating experience.

make sure core isolation memory is disabled, then right click the SmartSDR 3.5.9 installer and go to properties. You want to install in Windows 8 compatibility mode.

I just went through that. I had to turn off Core Isolation.

The other issue I had is that even with my FireWall turned off, it seems it wasn't fully off and there a few firewall rules were still in play.

This didn't prevent SmartSDR installation, but DAX and CAT only did not see the radio. SmartSDR did.

  • Thanks for the suggestions David and Mike. Turning off Core Isolation did not help. Given the trouble I have had, I am leery of some of the fixes. Is there any information on when the  defect number: J8210 -- "DAX not installing on PCs and Surface devices if Core Isolation/Memory Integrity or Secure Boot is enabled, and will not install on some computers at all, even if Core Isolation/Memory integrity is disabled." will be resolved so I can install this software normally without having to install it in Windows 8 compatibility mode?
