Remote operation using Flex6600 and N1MM

Member, Unconfirmed
Hi,
I am accessing our club computer via Chrome Remote Dedktop. Things are working fine; I can control the radio. When I am using N1MM in CW contest I have no sidetone so I cant hear what is being sent.
Anyone would know the solution?
When not using N1MM and sending CW with the keyboard I have sidetone.
Thanks in advance.

    Hi Lali

Yes, that is correct and we are aware of it. It is the way the radio was designed and we will address it at come point.

Here is a workaround for now.

    Mike,

I am having the same issues with my 6600's when operating remote at Ron, WV4P station. Also now I have the new Maestro C and the standard cw sidetone works great, but nothing when running N1MM. You would think this could be brought over as a DAX. I'm sure the 6600M models don't have this issue because friends of mine would have mentioned it. You would think this would be an easy fix DAX 1-4 and DAX-ST (sidetone). This will become a real issue with contesters ( we need a real functional workaround).

    Thanks and 73

Bill, considering the latency and the jitter the only viable approach is generate the sidetone where the CW is generated (station side), not transmitted (radio side). Until SmartSDR will integrate some software feature to achieve it, there are no other options than using external gadgets, hardware or software.

Along with WKFlex, I'm now working on a very simple hardware solution, microprocessor based. Unfortunately, at present time I do not have a radio for testing and the project has been delayed a bit.
