Trouble shooting

Hi all

My Flex 6500 (Smart SDR 2.10.1 under Win10) works on CW and FT8, but does not on SSB. I see no power output, and SWR indication shows minimum level...

What are the steps I should follow to try and source the problem, ... and eventually solve it ?

Thanks + 73

    Step One

Make sure TX DAX is off when using SSB phone

TX DAX shows "streaming", and the TX sign is blue. The streaming changes into Transmitting when I start TXing... I think this is what it should be...

TX DAX is not required or used for SSB. However, if it is ON it will not all MIC input. This is by design to make sure you don't have a live MIC while operating digital modes.

    This needs to be off.

Strange, as DAX was always on for the last few years, in any mode...

Just noticed an error message showed up and disppeared: It said something like "interlock preventing transmission". I cannot get it to show up again so as to explain exact circumstances...

The only real time DAX needs to be OFF is when your using "PC MIC" This is a OLD double edged sord when running Remote and can always make you scratch your head if your not used to manually turning it on and off or have a Profile set to do it. So if DAX TX is on then PC mic Audio won't work.

    Hi Bret and all

OK, well my PC does not have ANY microphone connected to it, and never had. That's why the DAX button shown above has always been ON (blue)

So my problem is not there... Any other idea ?

Can you send a screen shot like Mike did.

Also what Microphone Jack do you have your MIC plugged into on the Radio?

The 6500 has the one on the front 8 pin Panel (MIC), there is one on the back labeled (Bal) and a Multipin jack labeled (ACC) that you can use for a physical MIC.

The same window Mike's arrow point's to where DAX is there is a "MIC Drop down" that selects which MIC jack above your MIC should be plugged into.

What kind of Microphone are you using?

    Hi Bret

Eureka ! I found the **** button that was not what is should be. On the P/CW menus, MIC did not show. When I selected that, all came back to normal !

    Happy (and ****) me !

    Thanks guys + 73
